Updating good bones

This house was in need of an update. We ended up tearing the back half of the house off, back to the original structure from 1890’s. Dug a new 9’ basement increased the existing crawlspace headroom, shored up original foundation and poured a new floor.

The back half of the house is all new construction and the remaining existing structure was all taken to bare studs. We replaced all electrical, plumbing, windows, insulation, and siding. The exterior has 4” XPS rigid foam, 3/4” rain-screen, and fiber cement siding. The wall cavities were filled with open-cell spray foam and the roof was insulated with closed-cell spray foam. It was very important to maintain the original feel and look of the house and we accomplished that.
